COLUMBUS, Ohio (February 12, 2010) — Employee engagement expert, Beth Thomas, of Sequent, has a new book coming out in March 2010 that challenges readers to answer that age-old question, “Are YOU happy?” Research has shown that employee happiness improves the bottom line, but how can a time-crunched, stressed-out employee wedge in a little joy?

Thomas, Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Consulting at Sequent, has crafted a powerful little book filled with an upbeat, personal coaching program and proven techniques. It offers practical advice on how to:

  • Create your own definition of happiness
  • Learn to choose happiness (even on Mondays!)
  • Avoid what holds your happiness hostage: minimizing worry and negative thoughts
  • Hang with a gang that gets it
  • Dump the to-do list for something smarter – and better
  • Capitalize on the easiest way to take the “un” out of “unhappy”
  • Create a calendar of happiness
  • Dive into the biggest investment you can make in your own happiness

This pocket-sized training manual comes complete with worksheets and checklists and shows how office happiness is accessible to anyone. Each tool in the book helps lead you to a happier, more productive life. Instrumental for anyone working, whether in a cubicle or a corner office, Powered by Happy offers practical how-to information and a quick hit of optimism for the workday.

Steven M. Lyman, VP – Supply Chain, American Eagle Outfitters, Inc, says, “Buckle up and hang on – it’s going to be an introspective and fun ride. Look hard into the mirror, and be honest with yourself, follow Beth’s advice, and become more productive and honestly happy!”

In an uncertain economy that has every worker’s nerves on edge, Thomas’s happiness manual offers the right tools to ease anxiety and promote the productive team-spirited player in all of us. Just what every company and employee needs to boost workplace happiness and company performance. The book is due to be released in March 2010.
